
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player who is captain and striker for San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) which is the top division of women's professional soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team alongside Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe from the year 2018 to 2020. Following her graduation early from the University of California, Berkeley in the USA, where she played for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was chosen as the number one overall pick during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her professional debut with the club and assisted the team win its league championship. Morgan was 22 years old at the time and the youngest member of the national team in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team finished second. At the 2012 London Olympics Morgan scored the game-winning goal in the 123rd minute in the semi-final clash against Canada. She ended 2012 with 21 and 28 goals. assists as she joined Mia Hamm as the only American woman to score 20 goals and provide 20 assists within the same calendar year , she became the sixth and youngest U.S. player to score 20 goals in a single season. She was subsequently named U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of Year and was a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan was also instrumental in helping the United States winning their titles at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and 2019. Morgan was named to both the Dream Team for both tournaments. In 2019, she was awarded the Silver Boot.
