Amanda Pays was born in London. Her parents are Howard Pays, an actor and a show business agent, and Jan Miller. Mandy Miller was a childhood star in the 1952 film Crash of Silence. Pays was just eight when she started her schooling in the local convent. In the convent, she developed her acting abilities. With a distinct, throaty voice she was frequently included in male roles of the school productions. Amanda upon the recommendation of her mother, emailed an Polaroid photograph to a modeling agent. It was not long before she was enjoying a career that saw her travel the world for four years. She decided to become an actor at the age of twenty-two. After years of intensive training at London's Academy of Live and Recorded Arts, she made her professional debut as George Segal in The Cold Room (1984) The Cold Room, an HBO production written and directed by James Dearden. Pays has appeared in stage and on television all through her career, both in America as well as England. Pays' credits include "Fire Eaters" which was a London fringe production, and Thames Television's Minder. Minder on the Orient Express (1985). She was also the Lady Victoria in Oxford Blues (1984), alongside Rob Lowe. Sarah was featured in the ABC miniseries A.D. (1985) alongside James Mason and Ava Gardner. Sister Nicole was in Off Limits (1988), with Willem Dafoes as the lead and Gregory Hines.
