She has covered sports in several of the biggest publications around the world. The newspaper she worked for was The Washington Post nearly a decade covering Grand Slam Tennis and Grand Slam Football, as well as basketball at multiple Olympics. Nichols, who earned two Emmy Awards during her nine-year time working for ESPN and was featured in many of the network's most popular shows like NFL Countdown or SportsCenter, moved to ESPN in the year 2004. She also worked as an anchor for Monday Night Football on the network. She then moved to CNN and Turner Sports. Unguarded the show, which she produced and hosted, was telecast every day on CNN International. It had over one billion viewers around the world. Nichols was employed by TNT as a reporter and reporter on NBA games, including playoffs, regular season as well as All Star television broadcasts. Nichols also covered golf, baseball, and Final Four broadcasts for CBS as well as TBS. This is the first time in the award's 42-year-old tradition that a woman has been included among the over 200 nominations.
